Tom Petty finally has a No. 1 album.

Billboard announced that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' new album, Hypnotic Eye, debuted on their Billboard 200 chart.  The album sold 131,000 copies in its first week of release.

Previously, Petty's highest charting albums were 2010's Mojo and 1979's Damn the Torpedoes.  Damn the Torpedoes actually spent seven weeks at No. 2, but could never overtake Pink Floyd's The Wall.

It was a good week for classic rock.

The No. 2 album in the country is Eric Clapton's tribute to JJ Cale.  The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale sold 61,000.
